Ha Noi (VNA) - Ha Noi has inaugurated a project to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people, aiming to provide 100 percent of its population with knowledge of the fatal disease and preventive measures.

With financial support from the Asia Development Bank, the project will be carried out until 2010 in hot areas in Ba Dinh precinct and Dong Anh outskirt district where there are the highest incidences of HIV/AIDS carriers and high risk of infection.
The project will focus on educating and intervention measures targeting people aged between 15-24, particularly drug addicts, street youths or those working in high-risk conditions.

A recent survey in the capital city showed the number of young HIV/AIDS carriers has been increasing with 75 percent of the infected under 30 years old.
So far, HIV/AIDS carriers have been found in 224 out of 232 communes and wards of all 14 precincts and districts of Ha Noi.
